Even though I know what looms around the corner (sludge-filled streets, ice covered sidewalks, temperatures that make you want to cry - the many joys of a great Canadian winter) I still love fall. The colours, the crispness of the air and of course, the feast of Thanksgiving! Autumn is the best time to get outdoors and enjoy what nature has to offer. It is also prime farm time, with farmers markets galore and amazing offerings of veggies and local produce. Fall also re-ignites the notion of family for me. I am not sure if it is the upcoming holidays or the shortened days but I always start to think about family gatherings and entertaining. One of my favourite ways to entertain is what some chefs and restaurants refer to as “family style”, meaning huge platters loaded with food so that everyone can dig in and serve themselves. For this, I always rely on one of my favourite Fortessa pieces, the Cassia Oval Platter. Its simple, its elegant, its durable and it holds a ton of food. Whether you are holding a suave and sophisticated event or just a regular Sunday-night family dinner, this platter is a wonderful compliment to any meal.
