"This is not your Grandma's crystal, it's not your Mama's crystal either, this stuff has to be experienced to believed." (Michael Pinkus, The Grape guy and Head writer of Ontariowinereview.com)
So, I realize that this is a blog and not a product website and the last thing that I want to do is bombard the readers with product descriptions and sales pitches, however, I think that a brief introduction to Fortessa Canada and Schott Zwiesel is necessary.
Fortessa who??
Fortessa is a designer, developer and marketer of quality tableware.
Fortessa, Canada Inc. not only specializes in quality bone china, flatware, stemware and other uniquely designed tableware pieces but we are also Canada’s sole representative of Schott Zwiesel glassware.
Schott Zwiesel (a brand of Zwiesel Kristallglas, AG) is the inventor of the proprietary Tritan Crystal Technique. This innovative technique combines a titanium alloy, rather than lead, with a unique tempering process which works to harden the surface of the stemware, making it more durable and scratch resistant. The technology allows for stemware that has the same clarity and aesthetics as other crystals but with a much lower breakage rate. Anyone who has met Lloyd Thistle, President of Fortessa, Canada Inc., knows that he loves to demonstrate just how strong Schott Zwiesel Tritan products are by banging them against solid surfaces. Usually met by gasps and cringes from unsuspecting customers, Lloyds demonstration clearly articulates the strength and durability of this glassware product, as even as he taps it on countertops, walls and tables, the crystal refuses to break. You would not want to try that with any other crystal, believe me.
