On Saturday November 20th, some of the Fortessa team ventured to Ottawa to help host the Vineyard Vixen's, Schotts Zwiesel wine tasting event at the Restaurant International, part of Algonquin College. Of Course no wine tasting event would be complete without the hosting abilities of Michael Pinkus, aka The Grape Guy (ontariowinereview.com) and so between Michael's vast knowledge of wine, his dry sense of humour, copious amounts of Schott Zwiesel Crystal stemware and some fab wine and food, the event turned out to be quite a success!

The main focus of the afternoon was to test various wines in differing shaped glasses to determine whether the shape and size of a glass can alter the experince of a wine and to further try to personally discover what wines went best with particular shapes. Each attendee's plate setting included four Schott Zwiesel stems from the "Top Ten" collection and one Sensus glass. The wines, two red and two whites, were first poured into the Sensus glass and from there, poured into each of the other glasses. After looking at the wine, smelling it and of course tasting it in each glass a vote was then taken by Michael to see which glass rated the highest with that particular wine.

Lloyd Thistle, President of Fortessa Canada, Inc., also helped to host the event. He spoke about some of the unique qualities of the Tritan Technology found in Schott Zwiesel products and kept the audience on the edge of their seats through his glass demonstrations (whereupon he banged the glasses against tables, walls or any other nearby hard surface to demonstrate the durability and strength of the product (There were some worried people but not a single broken glass!)

Despite the blistering cold wind outside, the crowd was in excellent spirits and the wine and food kept everyone warm and cheery.

'Tis the season for festive food, time spent with family and, of course, SHOPPING! If you are like me and are NOT one of those people who finish holiday shopping in September, then you definately need to check out the Cry If I Want To Life style magazines gift-giving guide. Featured in the Holdiay issue, this guide has everything you need to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list.

The magazine suggests that a pair of wine glasses is the perfect gift for "the new guy" but we think its the perfect gift for the new guy, the old guy, the best friend, the father in law- who doesn't love crystal stemware?
And if you are looking to purchase some Schott's Zwiesel stemware, Cry If I Want To, located on Queen Street East in Toronto, is the best place to pick them up, and some other fab gifts as well.

Check us out on page 12!
